Summit

Summit is a book about a journey, and this journey is about my first accent of Mt. Washington in New Hampshire.

I chose the recurring theme of expressing all my headings in terms of threes. This creates a repetative tempo that I could use to play off of in the writing. I was so excited to go on this hiking trip, and in the beginning of the book I keep referencing smaller and smaller units of time (3 weeks, three hours, ect...) to create tension.

When I got to the top of the mountain, I was throughouly dissapointed to find a food court in the weather station, an access road, and a gift shop selling "My Car Climbed Mt. Washington" bumper stickers. There was no Starbucks on the mountain, but I included their logo just to show that I was dissapointed in how developed the top of the mountain is and relate that dissapointment to Starbuck's startling pervasiveness.
